Kizhaparayar St. Benedict F.C. Convent - 1973
Specially guided by the Holy Spirit and with the fervent desire to live a very simple life four sisters Sr. Cruz Mary (Vakakkad), Sr. Calixtus (Vakakkad), Sr. John Mary (Manjamattam), Sr. Emeediya (Kothamangalam) approached the Superior General Mother Maurus, Provincial Superior Pala Rev. Mother Pius, Papal Delegate Rev. Fr. Hippolytus and opened their wish. First, they were denied permission. On 16th July 1972 Rev. Fr. Thomas Vallavankott Vicar of Neeloor church blessed the convent and inaugurated it. They lived a simple lifestyle there. To attend the holy Mass the sisters had to go down the hill daily and had to climb steadily up which was very exasperating and weary. So they were on the lookout for a plot of land near the church.
Consequently, Rev. Fr. Vallavankott Vicar informed them about the possibility of starting a convent in Kizhaparayar as the people of that place were longing for a convent. Karimpanal Kuttichettan donated suitable land to start a convent. Thus the sisters shifted to Kizhaparayar on 18th November 1973.
A new chapel was donated by Tharappel Pappachan Chettan on 27th August 1983.
But after the first members, it became difficult for the other sisters to continue this ascetic lifestyle in its strict sense. So now the sisters live the ordinary life of the sisters in this convent.
