Aruvithura Assisi Convent - 1961
In the parish of Aruvithura, in the 2 ½ acres of land donated by Kallangattu (Vellookkunnel) Kuruvachan (Father of Sr. Mary Anitt), the parish priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Thazhathel and Rev. Fr. Thomas Arayathinal started a convent. It was blessed by Rev. Fr. Thomas Manakkatt on 1st May 1961. When St. George College was started there, in order to start a hostel for the girls, a new convent was built and the sisters shifted to the new Assisi convent in 1969.
