St. Joseph’s L. P. School Maniamkulam

St. Joseph's LP School, Maniyankulam, was once a thriving land during the reign of ancient kings. According to legend, after a fierce battle, the area became desolate and remained so until the school was established.

Over time, people from places like Thidanad, Idamattam, Vilakkumadam, and others migrated and settled in these areas like Chenad (Maniyankulam) and made them their hub.

Hardworking farmers, with the help of the landowners, transformed the forest into a fertile land. However, the people faced ...

In the early days, this place was a forest where wild animals roamed freely. It was a lush green forest where mythological stories were woven. The legendary Maniyankulam is situated here. Perhaps, this is why the place got its name Maniyankulam. The school was established on June 2, 1928 (1103 Idavam 15). The manager was Sri K.J. Kuriyan Kallivayalil, and the first headmaster was S. Krishna Pillai. The first teachers were K. Kuttan Pillai, P.T. Koshy, V.I. Idikkula, and P.C. Yohannan.

1953 was the silver jubilee year of the school. In 1953, the school's management was handed over to the FCC Sisters. Sr. Francis was appointed as the new headmistress. The number of students in the school increased, and due to the lack of space, a shed was constructed in 1957 with the help of the locals. In 1974, a nursery school was established as an annex to this school. From 1928 to 2019, three generations of the Kallivayalil family served as managers of the school. In 2019, the F.C.C. Alphonsa Jyothi Province took over the management of the school.
