St. Marys Nursery School Edamattom

ST.MARY'S NURSERY SCHOOL  IDAMATTOM 

                                        By the providence of God, Alphonsa Province Pala of  FCC started a convent-  St.Joseph's F. C. Convent at Idamattom- on 10th March 1963. Some of the sisters were teaching in KTJM HS and KTTM LP School. As per the request of the people of this area, sisters thought of starting a nursery school but no room for it. Any way by the grace of ... God we could manage to get a temporary room in the church building. Thus the nursery was started in 1963 itself. Later it was shifted to Idamattom Junction near the bank. On 2nd February 1965, the school was again shifted to a small building constructed for this purpose, close to the convent.  The first manager of the School, Rev. Sr. Celestina and the first H. M, Rev.Sr. Hubert had a great role in the inception and bringing up of the institution. The selfless and dedicated service of the management and the staff for the all-round development of the children paved the way for a remarkable growth very soon. The people of the area very much appreciated the service. Due importance is given for the acquisition of spiritual, moral and social values. In the year 2005 the syllabus was converted for LKG & UKG. A day in St. Mary's starts with a prayer and assembly followed by classes in Malayalam, English, Mathematics, Moral science  G. K. etc. Various co-curricular activities are included.                                                                                             

  Now a strong PTA is functioning in the school. The support of the parents in all activities of the school is a blessing. Arts and sports competitions are arranged and made sure that everybody takes part in some of the items. Annual day is celebrated every year and each child is given opportunity to exhibit his/her talents on the stage. A study  tour is arranged  for    the children Parents also join the trip. It is always entertaining and informative. Special days like Onam, Christmas, St.Alphonsa day  etc are  celebrated  with unique programmes. At  present 52  children  are studying here.
