KOLBE HOSPICE & PALIATIVE CENTRE
Hospice care is specialized care that provides physical comfort and emotional, social and spiritual support for people nearing the end of life. The aim of a hospice is to allow people to maintain control over their lives, live with comfort and dignity, and feel supported as they are in the eve of earthly life. Kolbe Hospice and Paliative Centre is such an institution under the management of FCC Alphonsa Jyothi Province, Bharananganam. It is an abode of solace to the miserable, a cooling shade to the ...a helping hand to the aged and the sick, a spiritual healer to those who prepare for the life after death.
The institution, formerly named “Kolbe Dispensary”, started functioning on 13 August 1992 after being blessed by His Excellency Mar Joseph Pallickapparambil, Bishop of Pala Diocese, at that time. Eventhough it had a humble beginning, pressure from some economically stable people who wanted better care for the aged or bedridden invalids from their family, resulted in enlarging its infrastructure. The institution was renamed to “Kolbe Hospice” after discussions in the General Body Meeting headed by the Provincial Superior of the time, Rev. Sr. Maria Francis.
Our hospice team includes doctors, nurses, and home health aides who provide care that centers on the comfort and dignity of the inmates. Moreover, mobile home service is rendered to the sick, especially to the bedridden people for changing tube, dressing etc. Dressing the deceased at home and funeral arrangements also are done whenever needed.
